Our Professional Services
BSL Translations, Captions and Voice-Overs
We provide BSL (British Sign Language) translations where spoken English is translated into BSL and vice versa. This includes in-vision translations on video clips / websites and spoken / written documents. Our clients include Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs), NHS Trust Foundations, local authorities and local charities, amongst others.
We use deaf translators who are fully qualified, registered and regulated professionals with the NRCPD (National Registers of Communication Professionals working with Deaf and Deafblind People). Their membership requires them to; have appropriate insurance, follow a code of ethics, conduct and undertake CPD (Continuous Personal Development) accordingly.
We also provide captions on video clips for non-BSL users and use the recommended font styles and background colour to suit deaf/blind people, including people with Ushers Syndrome. Voice-overs can be provided which gives people who prefer to listen, the opportunity to engage.
Total communication is encouraged to ensure greater inclusivity for all and we are constantly monitoring our standards and updating our service according to the latest research and feedback from our community.
Deaf Perspectives Workshops
Unlike deaf awareness courses, our workshop is unique because we focus on the wider issues around deaf culture, language and deaf perspectives. Our approach is holistic which gives greater insights as opposed to deaf awareness that focuses on generic / typical day to day activities with no long-term benefits for those who require a better understanding of deaf people either as customers, patients, clients, work colleagues or professionals.
As our service is bespoke - our workshop is designed to work for you, you will find that our resources are not standard and can provide a breadth of practical and academic material. In addition to working with you to develop material and resources that add meaning to your teams, we also work co-productively with experienced and qualified deaf people and teachers to ensure we can provide not your traditional training, but something much more in tune with your environment, team and providers/ users, which we feel will provide a much more enriched experience for all.
Being a deaf-led organisation with many years of experience you can be assured that we will deliver our service to the highest quality. Ensuring learning will transform equity and inclusion of both your team and service, with value for money in mind.
